Ford Company has stopped the GT sports car production in 2006. If The Road and Track United States magazine is to be trusted, so we’re extremely excited to know that the model will return to the market in 2016. Reopening of the legendary models will be linked to the 50th anniversary of the four Ford consecutive wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Ford GT intends to rival a wide range of various machines: Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 911 and even Chevrolet Corvette. Now the engineers are working hard on a GT’2016 trial prototype, which will arrive soon to the motorways. The previous Ford GT had 550 hp engine providing 500 lb-ft of torque, so we expect that the new GT performance will be improved. The premiere of the machine will take a place in January 2016 at the Detroit Auto Show.

Ford GT exterior is one of those cases when the appearance of the machine can’t become obsolete. So, we shouldn’t hold our breath for this information to come true. If Ford carmaker also decides to launch the new GT for a racing debut, all the racing fans should get excited or scared.
