Prototype of Ford Explorer of 2019 model year was spotted for the first time

Heavily disguised prototype of the Ford Explorer of 2019 model year is testing on Michigan roads, where it came into a spotlight of photo spies. Under the camouflage wrap there is a body kit of the current, fifth-generation of Explorer. The next-generation of the model will be based on D6 platform which will also serve as the basis for some of the future Ford and Lincoln cars. It is believed that architecture can be configured under the arrangement with the front, rear and all-wheel drive.

The engines EcoBoost, 2.3-liter 4-cylinder and 3.5-liter 6-cylinder, can be installed by inheritance, and 3.5-liter 6-cylinder naturally aspirated power unit should disappear. The debut of the sixth-generation of seven-seat Ford Explorer can take place at the end of 2017 – beginning of 2018. Thus, crossover should go on sale at the summer of 2018 year.
