The creator of ‘kinetic design’ will leave Ford

Martin Smith, over the last ten years headed the design department of the European subdivision of Ford and creates a “kinetic design” (the current design concept for the brand), will leave his post. Until the end, he will develop the future direction of car design Ford, and then retires.

Smith joined Ford in 2004. Previously, he worked at General Motors, where he participated in the development of the appearance of a family of third-generation Astra. Prior to joining the American company Smith worked at Audi where he was part of the team that created the 100 sedan. Smith’s successor as head of Ford of Europe design becomes Joel Piaskovski. 45-year-old will begin work on a new place on July 1.
